Rebellious shots protography that fights stereotypes
A project to tell the community through the eyes of those who live it
In the heart of Casapesenna, a small municipality in Campania with a complex yet resilient history, Capturing Voices was born—a project that combines photography, social inclusion, and international exchange. Funded by the Erasmus+ program and promoted by Giosef Italy, this project brought together young people from Italy, Portugal, Romania, and Greece to engage with the territory, breaking down stereotypes and creating new visual narratives about the community.
The main objective of Capturing Voices was to challenge preconceived perceptions of areas often associated with stories of crime, transforming photography into a tool for rediscovering the true identity of Casapesenna and enhancing its social fabric. Through the interaction between local and international youth, the project gave voice to a transforming community, creating a bridge between diverse experiences and developing a more inclusive collective consciousness.
From the preparatory visit to the youth exchange and finally to the exhibition, Capturing Voices represented an opportunity for growth for participants, providing them with concrete tools to use photography as a means of expression and awareness-raising. Let’s explore together the most significant phases of this journey.
